EPR schemes: extended responsibility for a sustainable future

Les Filières REP : une responsabilité élargie pour un avenir durable

For several years now, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) has been a cornerstone of environmental policy in France and Europe. Based on the “polluter pays” principle, this system requires manufacturers, distributors and marketers to take responsibility for the end-of-life of the products they market.

Why EPR?
The aim is to reduce the environmental impact of waste, encourage eco-design and make all economic players aware of their responsibilities. Today, more than 30 sectors are involved, covering everything from electrical equipment and textiles to furniture and, of course, packaging.

As a packaging manufacturer, we are directly affected by these developments. At Hanova, we see EPR not as a constraint, but as an opportunity:
✅ Design more responsible, recyclable and sustainable packaging
✅ Working with our customers to promote eco-designed packaging solutions
✅ Support recycling channels by complying with our reporting and contribution obligations
✅ Constantly innovate to limit the environmental footprint of our products

Tomorrow’s packaging must be high-performance, environmentally-friendly and end-of-life-friendly right from the design stage!

Every player in the chain has a role to play. Together, manufacturers, distributors, consumers and recyclers, we can build a more circular economy that is more respectful of our planet.
